Mediet her hedder endda Copenhagen Review of Communication.

## **Copenhagen Preview 2027**

## **Media & communication in the context of our time.**

On 11 March 2027 we bring together 300+ professionals from media and cultural life at Nørrebro Teater, Copenhagen, for a full-day conference that translates the international shifts in media and culture into Danish conditions. No vendors on stage. No panels where four people agree. An editorially curated day where every session sets theory against practice and ends somewhere you can use on Monday morning.

The day is for journalists, editors and editorial leaders. For researchers and lecturers in communication and media studies. For communicators and outreach staff at museums, publishers, libraries and festivals. For decision-makers in media and cultural institutions, for media strategists, producers and content creators, and for anyone working with the conditions of public conversation.

## **We look forward, not back**

We see the present through a rear-view mirror, McLuhan said. We march backwards into the future.

That is how the industry is built. We do reviews. We analyse what has already happened, with a precision that only becomes possible once it is too late to act on it. The publication behind this conference is even called Copenhagen Review of Communication.

A preview is the opposite movement. Not a prediction, because those rarely land. An attempt to see what is already here, while it is still here.

Every year the industry budgets for a year it cannot see. In March we realise that the decisive thing happened in November.

The numbers are not a secret. Around half of all English-language articles online are now AI-generated. YouTube is the most used podcast platform in the US at 44 percent, against Spotify's 14\. And in the US, 72 percent of teenagers have used AI chatbots for personal conversations, while a Danish study from Aarhus University finds that 14.6 percent of young people have had friend-like conversations with a chatbot. The difference is not a free pass. It is a head start we can use.

Access to the numbers is not the problem. The problem is that we read them as technology news rather than as descriptions of our own market, and of the conditions under which citizens gain access to knowledge, news and culture.

AI and the climate crisis demand collective decisions on a scale democracies have never faced. At the same time, autocracies are gaining ground, and distrust is cultivated and exploited online by actors who know exactly where the cracks in society run. What role should journalists, communicators and artists play when others don't play by the rules? And what can we actually do?

Media and cultural institutions are the infrastructure a democratic conversation rests on, and a handful of global platforms increasingly decide what citizens get access to. Copenhagen Preview 2027 is built to close the gap between November and March.

## **The day**

We open with the preview: what the year holds, and what is not yet a trend but will be. From there we move through concrete stories, from the big picture in the morning to practice and tools in the afternoon.

## **Practical**

11 March 2027\. Nørrebro Teater, Copenhagen. Full-day conference, 9:30–16:30\. 300+ participants from media, research, museums and cultural institutions, publishers and the communications industry.
